TV Broadcasting Alumni Interviews

In this alumni interview series, Seneca College Broadcasting Television professor Glenn Heshka sits down with his former students from over the years and finds out how they’ve done in the industry since graduating. The wide range of experiences shared provide insights helpful for current students and those just getting into the industry.

For students, the biggest questions remain am I learning the right things and do I have what it takes to get into the industry. These alumni help shed some light on those concerns by discussing how they felt as students and how they grew. They emphasize that attitude, curiosity, and excitement for the work are all important factors. The people that generally get the gigs are the ones that others enjoy working with and who work hard. Since the industry can quickly become a small world once you’re in it, it’s important to be careful not to burn any bridges.

They all felt as though Seneca properly prepared them for the industry because the practices, technology, and equipment was so closely matched to what is currently happening on real projects. Even if there are things unknown, that’s actually normal. The ever-changing nature of the industry means continuous learning is necessary and should be embraced.
