10 Times You Might Be Cheating and Not Know It

10 Times You Might Be Cheating and Not Know It

A Quick Lesson in Academic Integrity

1. RUMOUR HAS IT…

…you took the test last week. But you cannot share the questions on the test or answers to someone who takes the same test next week!

2. SHARING IS CARING

but you cannot give your work to another student so they can submit any portion of the file as their own.

3. SAVE YOUR PENNIES

Buying or selling academic materials such as reports, essays, assignments or any other work is forbidden.

4. FORGET THE HOTLINE BLING

No, you cannot call me on my cell phone during an examination.

5. SQUAD GOALS

We all need a little help some time. However, the file must reflect your skill set. Whether it is a friend or an online tool, be mindful of what resource tools you use to be sure the assignment still demonstrates your level of knowledge.

6. YOU CANNOT PUT AN ‘I’ IN T.E.A.M

Letting a friend look at your answers during an examination or copy your work to submit as their own is not allowed. You BOTH would be actively cheating.

7. HE SAID, SHE SAID, WE SAID

Research is important. You must include a formal citation to acknowledge that this is not your idea, but a reference of someone else’s work to support your idea. A missing citation implies this is your own original thought. Even that cute GIF for your presentation needs a citation!

8. DON’T BE EXTRA

Let your research speak for itself. Changing or faking research findings to fulfill your academic needs for an assignment is an act of academic misconduct.

9. KEEP IT ?

YOU must put in the work to get the grades. Paying someone to take your exam is definitely a no, no.

10. FAKE NEWS

Changing your grades, forging a signature, falsifying records, and deliberately changing or misrepresenting documentation is against the rules.
