RTVT Short Films Screening 2019

Lets face it Tribeca, Sundance, and Cannes have all gone pretty mainstream. Where can you go now to find the up and coming talents? How do you fulfill your hipster needs of knowing about the next big movie-making talents before they make it big? We've got the inside scoop. This year's RTVT Screening Night not only featured a special appearance from the Darth himself, it also premiered some impressive short films from our 4th semester Television Broadcasting students.

As their final project for the program, students have to write, film, and edit a short film of their choice. It can be a comedy, drama, horror, documentary- you name it. Even though the films are their final project, students begin the work long before 4th semester. It gives students an opportunity to experience what it's like to go through all the logistics of creating a film. They choose their scripts, coordinate the locations, book the gear, and work with actors from our Acting for Camera and Voice program.

When all is said and done, after many hours of production and editing, the films are premiered at the Sandra Faire and Ivan Fecan Theatre with faculty, family, and friends in attendance. The event is put on by our Event & Media Production students and this year it was hosted by Mahil and Yasser, who were also premiering their films.

In case you weren't able to attend the premiere, you can binge the films Netflix style from the comfort of your own home thanks to the playlist we've linked below! And to all the talented creators who premiered their films this year- congratulations! We can't wait to see what's next for you!
